Truffles may, in fact, be the most seductive food on earth. Their intoxicating aroma and luxurious, rich, earthy taste make any recipe seem indulgent. And so, along with my love for truffles, I declare Tuesdays from now on to be Truffle Tuesdays! Let’s see how long I can sustain this.
It seems appropriate that for Truffle Tuesday’s debut, I introduce you to my first foray into using truffle flavors at home: truffled popcorn. I had been wanting to try Toast! Kitchen and Wine Bar for more than a year now, even before the restaurant had been named the best new restaurant of 2009 by Pittsburgh Magazine and Executive Chef Chet Garland received the magazine’s “Rising Star Chef” nod, but those awards only further piqued my interest. Time and a general lack of desire among friends and family members who I asked to accompany me kept getting in the way. Until last weekend, when two of my more adventurous foodie friends and I finally made it there.
